The managers of Vocational Schools affiliated with our university (Directors, Deputy Directors, Heads of Departments, and School Secretaries) came together with the agenda of "Quality and Accreditation" upon the call of the Vocational School Coordinatorship.
On Friday, January 12, 2024, our Rector, Prof. Dr. Yılmaz Can, attended the meeting held in Ömer Halisdemir Conference Hall. The meeting was also attended by the Vice-Rector responsible for Vocational Schools, Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Şahin, Vocational School Coordinator, Prof. Dr. Aytaç Güder and the Accreditation, Academic Evaluation, and Quality Coordinator of our University, as well as the Rectorate's Chief Advisor, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Şanal.
In his speech to the Vocational School Managers, our Rector Prof. Dr. Yılmaz Can, reminded them that Vocational Schools are an important part of the University with a rate of 45% and asked the Vocational School Managers to act within the framework of efficiency and effectiveness in terms of opening new programs, staff transfer, and resource use. Our Rector also mentioned that it is not possible to give up the 3+1 system, which was put into operation in 2019, and stated that topics such as improving the system and excluding some programs from the system can be discussed again.
The Accreditation, Academic Evaluation, and Quality Coordinator, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Şanal, talked about the urgent steps that need to be taken in terms of quality and accreditation and pointed out the importance of compliance with the Bologna process. In addition to Prof. Dr. Mustafa Şanal, on behalf of the Accreditation, Academic Evaluation, and Quality Coordinatorship, Assist. Prof. Dr. Hakan Sipahi and Instructor Osman Serdal Karapınar also made a presentation about the due diligence studies they carried out on a unit basis for the accreditation of Vocational Schools.
Vocational School Coordinator Prof. Dr. Aytaç Güder talked about some of the arrangements they will make in the new period regarding the 3+1 vocational education model. The participants stated that the meeting, the last part of which continued in the form of questions and answers, was very productive.
