      The voice of our students in quality assurance processes: representative roles, the Quality Community and feedback mechanisms

      Ensuring that a culture of quality is internalised and disseminated by students, and increasing students’ participation in quality assurance processes, is one of the core elements of Giresun University’s student-centred approach to education. At our university, students are seen not merely as recipients of education but as stakeholders who help design, monitor and improve quality processes together.

      Student participation activities in quality processes are carried out under the Coordinatorship of Accreditation, Academic Evaluation and Quality of our university. This page presents the ways in which our students can take part in quality processes, the Giresun University Quality Community, and news related to student participation.

      How Can Students Take Part in Quality Processes?
       
      The four main pathways for student participation at our university
      Student Representative on the Quality Commission
      A student representative designated in accordance with legislation by the University Senate becomes the voice of students on the Quality Commission, which convenes periodically together with the Rector, the Quality Coordinator and field representatives.
      • Attending YÖKAK training and events and sharing the knowledge gained with the student members of unit quality commissions
      • Taking part in quality meetings such as strategic plan monitoring and evaluation, contributing to the process from a student’s perspective
      • Increasing university students’ awareness of and participation in quality processes
      Student Representation on Unit Quality Commissions
      Student representatives serving on the Unit Quality Commissions of faculties, institutes, schools and vocational schools convey to their commissions the areas their units need to improve, along with student requests and complaints. They can also contribute to quality work strategically and systematically by taking part in the preparation of the Unit Self-Evaluation Report (BÖDR).
      Quality Community Membership
      Open to all students of our university, the Giresun University Quality Community carries out activities such as disseminating a culture of quality, collecting student feedback, strengthening interaction between the institution and students, and organising training that supports students’ personal development.       Student Representatives and Survey Studies
      The president and members of the Student Council, the student representative on the Education Commission, and the representatives of the Barrier-Free University Unit contribute to quality processes through the work they take part in and the feedback they collect. In addition, through the survey studies of the Measurement, Evaluation and Continuous Improvement Commission, all students at the university are enabled to play a role in quality processes; survey results and improvements are published on our Coordinatorship’s website.
      Giresun University Quality Community
       

      The Giresun University Student Quality Community was founded on 8 December 2021 with the coordination of the Coordinatorship of Accreditation, Academic Evaluation and Quality, under the guidance of Deputy Coordinator Assist. Prof. Dr. Firdevs İclal Karataş Aydın. The Community carries out work aimed at disseminating a culture of quality at our university, internalising quality processes, and increasing students’ participation in quality assurance processes.

      Informing Giresun University students about student participation in internal quality assurance processes
      Supporting communication among students through cultural and social activities
      Acting as a bridge between the university’s senior management and students to collect and convey student feedback
      Organising symposia, training and seminars aimed at enhancing students’ qualifications
      Encouraging students to take part in national and international higher education quality activities
      Developing students’ communication network through collaborations with local institutions and organisations
