External Stakeholder Corner

External Stakeholder Corner

A single address for our University's relations with its external stakeholders: stakeholder categories, channels for submitting views, signed collaborations, and how feedback is turned into improvement.
6 stakeholder categories6 participation mechanisms14 signed protocols

In quality assurance, external stakeholder participation is not complete once views have been collected. It must be possible to trace which decision a view fed into, which improvement it initiated and what its outcome was. This page brings together, in one place, the channels through which external stakeholders submit their views at our University, where those views go, and which collaborations have been established to date.

Submit Your Views
As an external stakeholder you may submit your views, suggestions, requests and notifications through the GIMER Application Portal. Your application is registered, given a tracking number and answered within 2-7 working days depending on its type.
Stakeholder Categories

The six external stakeholder groups with which our University maintains systematic relations
Public institutions and civil administration
Governorships and district governorships, provincial directorates and the provincial organizations of ministries. Our primary counterparts in reflecting regional priorities in our programmes and research agenda.
Local authorities
Provincial and district municipalities and the special provincial administration. Stakeholders with whom we work on service-to-society projects and on the campus-city relationship.
Development agencies and organized industrial zones
Development and investment agencies and organized industrial zones. University-industry cooperation and technology transfer are conducted through this channel.
Professional bodies and chambers
Chambers of commerce and industry and professional bodies. The alignment of programme outcomes with professional requirements is reviewed with these stakeholders.
Sector representatives and employers
Enterprises, producer associations and employers in the region's leading production and service sectors. The link with internships, applied training and employment.
Graduates, NGOs and prospective students
Our graduates, health institutions, non-governmental organizations and prospective students. The strongest external source of evidence for validating programme outcomes.
Participation Mechanisms

The channels through which external stakeholder views enter the institution, and how each of them works
Advisory boards
Boards at unit, department and programme level, composed largely of external stakeholders. They provide direct input into programme design and revision.

GIMER Application Portal
The single institutional channel through which external stakeholders submit complaints, requests, suggestions, information requests and satisfaction reports. Every application is tracked by a reference number.
Answered within 2-7 working days
External stakeholder satisfaction surveys
Surveys conducted periodically. An improvement card is opened for items falling below the average and the outcome is monitored.
Threshold: 2.99 and below requires improvement
Cooperation protocols
Signed agreements with identified parties. They move the stakeholder relationship beyond individual initiatives onto an institutional footing.
14 unit protocols
Graduate tracking
The Graduate Information System together with graduate tracking committees at unit level. Primary evidence for validating programme outcomes.
93,467 graduate records
Stakeholder evaluation meetings
Periodic meetings at unit and programme level, at which the implementation status of previous decisions and the improvements made are discussed.

What Happens to Your View

The path from feedback to improvement
1
Received
The view is recorded through GIMER, a survey, an advisory board or a stakeholder meeting.
2
Evaluated
It is considered by the relevant unit with regard to its subject, impact, frequency of recurrence and strategic importance.
3
Turned into improvement
An improvement is initiated in the areas deemed necessary; the responsible party and the deadline are defined.
4
Outcome measured
The effect of the improvement is measured again; if the problem recurs, the cycle is run once more.
Results are published. Topics falling below the average in surveys, and the improvements initiated for them, are published theme by theme on the From Feedback to Improvement page. Feedback becomes evidence of quality only once it has been turned into an improvement.
If, as an external stakeholder, you would like to serve on an advisory board, propose a protocol or develop a collaboration, you may submit an application of the Suggestion type through GIMER, or contact our Coordinatorship at kalite@giresun.edu.tr.
