Workshop on Vocational School Programme Design and Peer Review to Be Held on 8 October

The Workshop on Vocational School Programme Design and Peer Review, organised by our Coordinatorship with the contribution of the Vocational School Coordinatorship, will be held on Thursday, 8 October 2026 at the Gure Campus.

The workshop is the closing step of a four-stage process our Coordinatorship has carried out with the vocational schools. During this process, all units were visited and expectations regarding programme design were conveyed, course information packages were monitored, and the principles for measuring programme outcomes together with the identified ECTS inconsistencies were communicated to the units in official correspondence. At the workshop, the extent to which the feedback given has been addressed will be seen through programmes reviewing one another, and outstanding items will be linked to an action plan.

Department heads and academic staff of the 72 programmes at our 11 vocational schools admitting students this year, along with our vocational school directors, will take part. Programmes will gather at four thematic tables according to their fields; identical programmes run at more than one vocational school will work on their course curricula together, while programmes offered at a single school will carry out peer review with a related programme in the same field.

The workshop will begin at 10.00 at the Sehit Omer Halisdemir Conference Hall. Following the opening, the outcomes of the four-stage process and the evidence expected from programmes will be presented; our First and Emergency Aid and Medical Laboratory Techniques programmes, which hold MEDEK accreditation, will share their accreditation experience as a good practice example. In the afternoon, two workshops will be held at the Staff Dining Hall, where groups will work at their own tables, shared findings will be presented by field, and programme-based action plans will be drawn up.

External stakeholders invited by the Vocational School Coordinatorship -- representatives of employers, public institutions, professional bodies and alumni -- will also join the afternoon sessions. They will share sector expectations on course plans, programme outcomes, internships and workplace-based vocational training, and their views will be recorded in the group reports.

The main output of the workshop is a closing table showing, for each programme, the status of the feedback addressed together with its evidence. A curriculum alignment proposal for shared programmes, a MEDEK coverage matrix and programme action plans will also be prepared; group reports and action plans will be submitted to our Coordinatorship by 15 October 2026.
