The orientation programme for the 2026-2027 academic year will be held for our newly enrolled first-year students between 28 September and 13 October 2026. Sessions will take place on all campuses hosting our faculties, schools and vocational schools, beginning with the main campus, and are organised separately for each unit.
The sessions will be delivered by the Department of Student Affairs, the Department of Health, Culture and Sports, the Department of Library and Documentation, the exchange programme offices, the Combating Addiction team and the Environmental Problems and Clean Production Application and Research Centre.
Contribution of our Coordinatorship
Quality processes and student engagement will be explained separately at key points of the programme
Although the official programme does not carry a separate heading for it, the Coordinatorship of Accreditation, Academic Evaluation and Quality will brief our students in detail on quality assurance processes at suitable points of the sessions. Students will be told, with concrete examples, through which channels they can take part in these processes, how their views turn into decisions and how quality work affects their own educational experience.
Where can our students take part?
All of the channels below are open from the first year.
Unit Student Quality Commission
Every academic unit has a commission formed of students that carries student opinion directly into the unit's quality work. Membership is open through an application form.
Satisfaction and course evaluation surveys
The surveys conducted at the end of each semester are the widest channel through which views on the learning environment reach the institution. Results are reported and inform improvement decisions.
GİMER — Giresun University Communication Centre
Complaints, information requests, demands, suggestions and appreciation are received through a single channel. Every application is given a tracking number and its outcome is reported back.
Quality Screen
A video series explaining quality assurance concepts in one-minute episodes, together with a series showing the GİMER process step by step, is openly available on our page.
Elective course: Quality Assurance in Higher Education and Student Engagement
Coded OSD-50 and open to all programmes, this course addresses the subject over a full semester for students who wish to go further.
Quality Society
The student society spreads quality work in peer language and represents our University at national student gatherings.
