Founded in 2021 to spread the culture of quality among students and to increase student participation in quality assurance processes, the Giresun University Quality Community renewed its executive and supervisory boards for the 2026-2027 academic year. With the Executive Board and the Supervisory Board convening on the same day, the Community’s new-term bodies took office.
In the new term, the academic advisory role of the Community is carried out by Assist. Prof. Dr. Hakan SİPAHİ, Deputy Coordinator for Accreditation, Academic Evaluation and Quality. Livanur GÜNGÖR, a student of the Department of Business Administration, takes on the role of Chair of the Community, and Melek Naz POLAT, a student of the Department of International Relations, that of Chair of the Supervisory Board. The full and substitute members of both boards are listed on the Community page.
Community activities are carried out by four working teams in the new term. The Social Media and Design team prepares announcements and event visuals; the Events and Organisation team runs the event calendar; the Records and Filing team keeps meeting minutes and membership records; and the Sponsorship and External Relations team builds cooperation with other communities, university units and external stakeholders.
The Giresun University Student Quality Community was founded on 8 December 2021 under the coordination of the Accreditation, Academic Evaluation and Quality Coordinatorship, with Deputy Coordinator Assist. Prof. Dr. Firdevs İclal KARATAŞ AYDIN as its academic advisor. Since its foundation, the Community has reached its present experience through the work of everyone who has served on its executive and supervisory boards, its chairs and its academic advisors. We thank our founding advisor Assist. Prof. Dr. Firdevs İclal KARATAŞ AYDIN; the community chairs and the board members who served in previous terms; and every student who took part in our events, stands and workshops.
Quality assurance in higher education requires students to be present not merely as recipients of education, but as stakeholders who design, monitor and improve the process together. Within the 2026 Institutional Accreditation Programme conducted by the Higher Education Quality Council (YÖKAK), whether student participation mechanisms are defined, whether they are operated, and whether the feedback they produce is carried into decision-making processes are each assessed separately. Alongside student representation and survey studies, the Quality Community continues its work as one of the channels through which this participation runs.
For the Community’s aims, its 2026-2027 executive and supervisory board members, working teams, documents and its event and news archive, see the Quality Community page. All students of our University may join the Community; membership applications are received through the Student Communities Information System.
