Quality assurance work carried out at our University and preparations for the 2026 Institutional Accreditation Programme (KAP) were reviewed at a meeting held at the Rectorate. At the meeting, chaired by our Rector Prof. Dr. Yılmaz Can, the Coordinatorship of Accreditation, Academic Evaluation and Quality presented the work completed in recent weeks.
The meeting was attended by Vice Rector for Quality Prof. Dr. Güven Özdem; Prof. Dr. Mustafa Şanal, Coordinator of Accreditation, Academic Evaluation and Quality; Deputy Coordinator Assist. Prof. Dr. Hakan Sipahi; Coordinatorship members Assist. Prof. Dr. Enis Taşçı and Lect. Osman Serdal Karapınar; and Lect. Emre Çağman of the Press and Public Relations Coordinatorship.
Recent work
The meeting covered the work completed in recent weeks to strengthen the digital infrastructure of the quality assurance system and to spread the quality culture across the University. All of this work is available on the Coordinatorship's website.

Preparations for KAP 2026
The main item on the agenda was the preparation for the Institutional Accreditation Programme, under which our University will be evaluated in 2026. Updating the Institutional Internal Evaluation Report and its evidence set, the preparation processes of unit quality commissions, work on areas open to improvement, and the tasks to be completed before the site visit were all addressed.
Site visit schedule: The site visit under the Institutional Accreditation Programme conducted by the Higher Education Quality Council (YÖKAK) is expected to take place in October-November 2026. Preparatory work continues in cooperation with academic and administrative units.
Significance for the leadership and governance criterion
In the YÖKAK Institutional Accreditation Programme, leadership is assessed by whether senior management owns the quality assurance system and with what regularity that ownership is sustained. Addressing quality processes at Rectorate level at regular intervals, and running them as a continuous item on the Senate agenda, provides direct evidence for the leadership and governance practices under Criterion A. Views and proposals raised in these meetings feed into the institutional preparation work.
