Giresun University’s Coordinatorship of Accreditation, Academic Evaluation and Quality has launched a new digital showcase that brings quality-assurance concepts into a language everyone can understand: Kalite Ekranı (Quality Screen). The initiative kicked off with the “1 Dakikada Kalite” (Quality in One Minute) video series, with each episode lasting about one minute.

Why “Quality Screen”?

Quality assurance is described through concepts such as accreditation, the PDCA cycle, evidence, performance indicators, self-assessment, and internal and external stakeholders. Expressed in regulatory language, these ideas can feel technical and distant. Kalite Ekranı steps in exactly here: it simplifies the concepts and explains them with everyday examples in short videos. The goal is to move quality from being a burden remembered only during evaluation periods to a natural part of daily work.

Quality in One Minute: more than 50 short episodes

The backbone of the initiative is the “1 Dakikada Kalite” series. The episodes are not random; they follow a learning order, so viewers start with the basics and build up to the whole picture step by step:

• Fundamentals: what quality is, what a quality assurance system is, the PDCA cycle (Plan–Do–Check–Act).
• Evidence & improvement: what evidence is, what makes good evidence, activity vs. evidence, how improvement is evidenced.
• Indicators & stakeholders: performance indicators, target vs. indicator, internal/external stakeholders, student feedback, using survey results.
• Self-assessment: the Unit Self-Assessment Report, the Institutional Self-Assessment Report (KİDR), and the difference between them.
• Accreditation: what accreditation is, programme and institutional accreditation, the link between accreditation and quality.
• Strategy & management: mission, vision, strategic goals, process management, risk, quality commissions, data-driven decision-making and quality culture.

The series concludes with “The Quality System: The Whole Picture,” which ties all the pieces together.

What’s the format?

Each episode is about a minute long. Instead of technical jargon, it uses plain language and concrete examples; the narration alternates between two voices for a smooth viewing experience. More than 50 episodes are planned, and the series keeps growing as new episodes are published.

What’s next?

Kalite Ekranı will not be limited to the video series. In the coming period it will expand with interviews, experience-sharing and training content on quality. The aim is to become not just a “screen” that explains quality, but a content hub that shares the university’s culture of quality.
