An eight-episode video series explaining, step by step, the entire application process carried out through the Giresun University Communication Centre (GİMER) has been prepared by the Accreditation, Academic Evaluation and Quality Coordinatorship and published on the Quality Screen.

The series was produced as part of the Quality Screen, which aims to make the University’s quality assurance work accessible through visual explanation. Until now the Quality Screen hosted the “Quality in One Minute” series, which covers quality assurance and accreditation concepts in one-minute episodes. With the GİMER series, the platform adds episodes showing the everyday use of a working system alongside those explaining concepts, bringing two distinct series together on a single page.

The series is designed around two audiences. The first five episodes address stakeholders who submit applications, while the final three are prepared for unit managers and case officers who handle them. Both the applicant and the staff member who resolves the application can therefore go straight to the part of the process that concerns them.

The episodes for stakeholders cover what GİMER is and which application types it includes; how students apply using their Student Information System account, staff using their institutional e-mail account and external stakeholders through identity verification; and how an application is tracked using its reference number. Treating the three verification routes in separate episodes lets each stakeholder group follow its own sign-in flow on screen.

The episodes for units and case officers explain how an application moves from the approval pool to the relevant unit, how the unit manager assigns it to a case officer, and how it is reviewed and answered. The final episode makes clear that the process does not end with a reply: where necessary, a root cause analysis is carried out and the defined improvement action is recorded in the system together with its evidence.

GİMER operates under the Giresun University Communication Centre Directive, which entered into force by decision no. 300-1 of the University Senate dated 10 September 2026. The Directive establishes that stakeholder applications are managed through a single channel in an integrated and traceable manner and are resolved within the Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle. The video series sets out what that framework looks like in practice, closing the distance between the text of the regulation and daily use.

Collecting stakeholder feedback, evaluating it and turning it into improvement is a direct indicator of how well an institution’s internal quality assurance mechanisms work during institutional accreditation. The series is expected to help everyone using the system understand the process in the same way and to support the resolution of applications within the service levels defined in the Directive.

The eight-episode GİMER series and the fifty-episode “Quality in One Minute” series are available on the Coordinatorship’s Quality Screen page. The episodes can also be watched from the playlist on the Coordinatorship’s YouTube channel.
